In this month of focusing on love, let us remember our own worthiness of love. To be loved can feel redemptive. When someone we esteem values us, we feel worthy.
We don't have to wait for this validation to come from outside of ourselves. Because we are already valued, and loved, by that which created us. Which I call Love. And what would Love create? Love in it's own image, love in many forms. Us. The Earth, the clouds, the rocks and oceans. The moon, the planets and the stars are all made of the same materials. All the spiritual and holy texts, physics as well, point to the fact that we are made of star stuff, we are at one with all that is. It is an illusion we play at, this notion of separateness.
When I was a teenager I was introduced the prose poem The Desiderata. It was read by Leonard Nimoy. I took it's wisdom to heart and it has given me great comfort over the years. I believe it is a truth put forth plainly. This part is especially relevant to this topic of self love:
"Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here."
An EFT Tapping sequence starts with self acceptance.
After focusing in on the problem to be tapped on, we start the tapping process with a statement of what we'd like to release or shift and a statement of self acceptance. All healing begins with self love. But if we can't find that love, acceptance is a good starting point. Or even the desire to find that love someday. There's all sorts of ways to open that door.
Try this exercise to develop your self love!
Each night before bed, for 7 days, write down 2 admirable qualities you possess... and no repeats. At the end of a week you'll have a list of self loving qualities, reasons that you can love yourself. Read and/or say this list out loud before you go to sleep. Let your dreams be bathed in the wonder of you! Or, start your day this way and bring the remembrance of your divine rightness and essence into your day. YOU, yes you!, are a child of the Universe. You are made to be exactly who you are. You are not at fault. You are not broken. It is the ego/mind that bathes us in fearful images, that convinces us we are less than the Universe itself. We are loved; indeed we are made of love. When the mind is directionless, leaderless, it generates all manner of fear. But when the mind is tethered to the essence of you again, then together, spirit and mind, can perform miracles. The mind is waiting for your "wholesome discipline."
All healing begins with self love.
It is not selfish at all. For Love is giving, kind, and patient. When you see yourself and everyone, and all things, as part of a perfect love - you are changed. And you become an agent of up-liftment - for your family, for your community and for the world. Just you in your living room loving yourself and sending that love out to the world is enough!
And, sometimes that thought is a heavy lift.
Years ago when I was beginning to be very sick, I was at a workshop about Ganesha Puja. A devotee said to me that my body was an extension of the Divine, it was indeed God's body, so how could this body be sick? For about 3 heart beats I saw it, I felt it, and I knew it to be truth. But I was not ready to live that exalted truth. Still on the journey! But for all of us this is true. And life is a journey to this 'realization.'
I've often felt that EFT and tapping is a spiritual practice. We are peeling back layer after layer of ego/mind to reveal more and more of our loving original self.
What would you like more of?
Self love? Health? Success? Better relationships? Peace? Ease? Most of us take these kinds of self exploration journeys because we are in some kind of pain. Some form of stress is ruling the roost. Discomfort is strutting around the yard, while we stay cooped up in anxiety and fear and stress. We long to be free of it, but when we stick our heads out, that damn rooster pecks us into staying in our cooped up life.
EFT is the solution to that rooster!
If you'd like to expand your comfort, have more ease, be happier, give me a holler. It's what I do. It's what I have done for myself, so I know the way. Maybe we only start with a conversation. It's not a commitment to do anything more than get more clarity and information. Or, if you know you are ready for change and EFT looks like it's for you, we can get going right away.
I'm an email away.
Many blessings on your journey to a more loving relationship with yourself!

Desiderata
(This is the original text from the book where Desiderata was first published.)
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
